Classes Full Of Laughter

<Phnom Penh> Under Master's loving instructions, the Cambodian Center has begun to offer courses in English and Chinese. The English course has both a morning and afternoon sessions. According to the level of the students, they have been assigned to the elementary, intermediate or advanced class. The Center openly welcomes Cambodian fellow countrymen to attend the classes, free of charge. The people who attend the classes come from various levels in society, including soldiers, workers, pedicab drivers, students and government employees. Their ages range from ten to thirty. Since most teachers are fellow practitioners from the USA, they have adopted the American teaching method, which is active, relaxed and natural, and can further stimulate the students' creativity and self-expression. Considering the Oriental people's shy nature, the teachers have designed various games to break through the student's limitations.

Sometimes they sit in a circle to discuss with one another. The content of the course is rich and interesting which includes giving speeches, telling stories, looking at pictures, making conversation, and singing songs. Moreover, the teachers integrate the learning of grammar and new words into the activities, correct the students' pronunciations, and explain the meanings of the new words. Each day, the students spend their time in the classes with laughter. After only several months, they have made significant progress in listening, speaking, and writing. Because the teaching materials are based on Master's teachings and aphorisms, the students' personalities have also improved a great deal. These have made the teachers feel more gratified.

Because the teaching style is so alive and rich, students tell other people about the classes, so the number of students is increasing day by day. As to these simple, kind and diligent students who have the desire to do better, the fellow practitioner-teachers said, "Due to Master's loving guidance the students come here to study, then they will be able to find a good job, become kind and moral, and be able make a contribution to their country and society; this is a most gratified thing.
