Love That Comes From Thousands Of Miles Away --

Report On The Flood Relief Efforts In The Provinces

Of Liaoning, Jilin and Anhui, Mainland China

By The Disaster Relief Team, China

The flood relief efforts in mainland China have finally ended. Blessed and supported
by Master's love and spiritual power, we reached the most destitute and remote
areas that had been affected, and conveyed great spiritual comfort to the
victims. On the vast water, Master's love appeared like Noah's Ark that
kept the victims afloat with infinite hope.

Liaoning Province

Niuju Village in Wuxing Hsiang, Dengta Hsien of Liaoyang City was the most severely affected village in the recent disaster. The flood in late July stripped the village of all its harvest; all the houses were immersed in water and many of them collapsed. When fellow initiates came to investigate the situation, the village chief requested them to buy some coal, which is essential for the over six hundred students of Niuju Primary School in keeping warm during the winter. After the disaster, the village had no chance of solving this problem.

When a dozen trucks, fully loaded with coal and Master's love, arrived at the school, the village chief and school principal were extremely delighted and surprised. They had never dreamt that their casual verbal request would be met with such a prompt response.

Jilin Province

Having rendered aid to the heavily affected counties of Jilin Province in late August, fellow practitioners from Changchun and Jilin, following Master's instructions and led by a Quan Yin messenger, directed their work to Huifa Town in Huinan County, Jaohekou Village and Heishi Village in Panshi County, and distributed relief materials to victims in 2,827 households. The materials included 39,562 jins (1 jin 0.5 kilo) of rice; 1,000 cotton blankets; 1,869 pairs of cotton shoes; 10,845 jins of soy paste and salt; and emergency medical supplies worth RMB 6,581. Besides these items, they also gave 200 sets of cotton coats and trousers to the extremely poor and helpless old folks in the villages.

Before launching the relief activities, the relief team ventured deep into the affected area, two to three hundred kilometers, to investigate the situation. They purchased urgently needed materials accordingly, and realized Master's love for the victims in every detail.

The weather in northeastern China was getting cold, so the priority was to help the people keep warm in winter. When the cotton blankets, cotton clothes and cotton shoes were delivered into the hands of the victims, they said touchingly, "We have never seen such a relief group, delivering the materials right to our doors. It is very difficult to find such good people in the world nowadays!"

In Huinan County, hearing about the news a journalist from a magazine in Tonghua City was extremely interested in the relief activities of the fellow practitioners. Riding on his motor bike, he followed the relief team vehicle from village to village, taking photos and asking fellow practitioners about our relief work. Observing that the fellow practitioners were delivering the relief materials right into the hands of the victims according to the number of victims in each village, he was touched and said, "I have never seen people who were so considerate and cared for each of the victims!" He said that he was going to report our relief activities.

Anhui Province

The Anhui flood relief team formed by fellow practitioners from Nanking, Beijing, Changchun and Anshan, arrived at Anpin Hsiang in Tonglin City of Anhui Province to launch the relief work. Anpin Hsiang was the most severely affected by the flood disaster in Anhui Province this year. The twelve villages of Anpin Hsiang were scattered on the delta of the Yangtze River, and the main vegetation there is cotton. There are no land routes linking the delta with the mainland. This year, when the peak of the flood occurred, most of the cotton fields and houses were swallowed by the flood.

When the fellow practitioners disembarked at the Tingzhou Pier carrying with them 69,840 jins of rice; emergency medical supplies worth RMB 3,185; and fifteen sacks of old clothes donated by fellow practitioners in Qingdao, the Chief of Anpin Hsiang was already waiting. Fellow practitioners sincerely explained to the Chief Master's relief efforts all over the world, and expressed the hope that the relief materials could reach the victims promptly. When the fellow practitioners carrying medical supplies arrived by boat at the Municipal Office of Anpin Hsiang and allocated the relief materials to the village Chiefs, the last stop on this flood relief operation was completed.

Conclusion

The relief activities provided fellow practitioners with a lesson to practice with sincerity, love and positive thinking. Only when we are always positive in thought and full of confidence, can we perfectly convey Master's love to people in need.
