I want very much to study. Where are you, teacher?

Even though the school in the Palawan Camp has been ordered to suspend their classes, the students of the primary school section still come each day and linger outside the classrooms. They press their tender little faces against the windows, staring at the familiar desks, chairs and the blackboard in the classrooms. Doubts and questions flood their childish eyes. They are praying for a miracle, that the classroom doors would suddenly open for them so they can resume their studies. The secondary school students still come to |
school every day.
However, fear hangs on their
pale faces as they are uncertain as to
how many days they will be able to continue their studies. The
usually loud reading voices are now feeble. Occasionally, they
glance around, fearing that the guards might suddenly appear to
throw them out of the classroom!
Can you, the people living in the rich, free world, who have enjoyed free compulsory education since childhood, understand the mournful sobs of the juvenile asylum seekers who have been stripped of their opportunity to study? |
